Nice tour, I went to Tampa a few years ago, really nice place...we went to the IMAX (supposedly it was the largest in the world?).

St. Petersburg looks awesome too, nice towers.

Great tour! One question: why is it that downtown Tampa seems so deserted when all the other areas seem to be doing just fine, even bustling? I haven't been to either Tampa or St. Petersburg since I was a child, so I don't know anything about either.

To me, DT Tampa still appears to be isolated from the other areas by surface parking lots, expressways and the Hillsborough River. Although things are changing for the better, its also dominated by office space with little residential uses nearby. I will say that the fortunes of North Franklin Street have changed in the past couple of years. The place was a huge vagrant filled dump 10 years ago. Imo, DT Tampa would rapidly change for the better if the streetcar line were extended through its heart, thus connecting it with several vibrant inner core neighborhoods.

Nice pictures. Tampa and St. Petersburg have some nice areas once you really explore the cities. I found Ybor City to be a very nice neighborhood when I was down in that area.

Great tours LL. I really like that Tampa skyline shot in #27. And St Pete seems to have quite the growing skyline as well. I think if that blonde in # 68 had her pants any lower we'd be seeing some hey-nanny-nanny. Thanks for the pics.

I've visited both DT's a few times over the years and have stayed in both as a tourist, and I agree. DT Tampa seemed much more isolated and much more single purpose (office space). Without the streetcar it seems impossible to walk out of.

It's good to see St. Pete continue to grow.

The Tampa Bay area always impresses me in photos. I always hear/read about how dead it is, and how little it has going intellectually and otherwise.

But, in photos, it appears very vibrant, very colorful, and very enticing.

It very much can be all of these things in certain areas of the metro, Tiger Beer.

Some on this forum tend to be very harsh and extremely judgemental on places they know nothing of. The reputations of certain places are not always deserved, and the Tampa Bay metro happens to be one of those places in my opinion.

When you think about it, ANY place of over 4 million residents has to have some redeeming qualities.
