Takes a hell of a lot more than three. I went down on that damn thing for fourteen minutes before it came.

^I had what must have been the 1967 version of that. That was the year I turned 7 years old and I received a Super City™ construction kit for my birthday. For years it was by far my favorite toy. It had panels like the one Ex posted above but it was all plastic, I assume the above toy was metal. I built and re-built with my Super City until I completely wore it out. I would have loved to still have it but there wasn't much left after I got through with it.

I didn't have enough pieces to make a city this size but I would have been a happy kid if I did.

I had the 1994 version, but it was difficult to build anything that wasn't symmetrical...Which might explain my appreciation for art deco nowadays and why I hate star-chitects like Libeskind (sp?) and Gehry.

A little while ago, a homeless man spent about 10 minutes digging in a BFI bin outside my apartment looking for a bottle of wine. He found one.

Better than drinking hairspray, I guess.

We paid it. The thing was, we fell behind last summer, then called, got on that poor-peoples plan, you know, and a couple weeks back he was like "yo we need to throw $100 at the bill". So we paid it, but he waited till two days late to do it, because his pay day was after the bills due date. They shut it off because of that. Of course, if the fucker had told me, I could have paid it right there. Instead, I had to drop a couple hundo on this shit. At least the bill is down to zero now.

I don't know what I fought for. It makes me very upset. I lost everything I cared about in doing so, and have nothing but disrespect in return it feels like.

Huh. They were still showing this when I was a kid in the late 80s/early 90s. Hell, they might even be showing it to kids today.

I've been diabetic since age 6. Never had much use for it...

You fought so that a bunch of old white men could tell simple minded people that they "did something and stood up to those bad guys" to win votes and power.

Yeah, that damn commercial must have had a 25 year run or more. I remember seeing it quite often on Saturday mornings when I was 13 or so.

You're from Livonia, right? You guys opted out of SMART meaning that you don't even have basic bus service for a city of nearly 100,000, anymore. I'd be surprised if you didn't like driving, roads, and highways.

I had my first real run-in with the dark side of Detroit yesterday. Two friends and I were at the Packard Plant and a middle-aged guy in a white wifebeater started yelling at us from down the street. We ignored him and went inside; less than a minute later he fired a round from outside maybe 20 feet from where we were standing. We ran like terrified little girls.

I think I might have needed the reality check, though. I was getting pretty bold exploring without respecting my surroundings. I definitely won't be so careless in the future.

Speaking of the dark side of town, I was a victim of racism the other day, for the first time ever! A native guy mockingly said to his friend, "make room for the white guy!", and his friend said "they never make room for us!!!!" They were taking up the whole side walk and I was behind them, but then I noticed that I could cross the street there to get home so I went, and then they said that.

I have street cred now!!

And the other night, some hookers said some very deep and profound things:

Fat Old Hooker: "Get away from mah curnur! Ah'm doing dis tur raise money fer mah kids! Yer just doin it ter stick needles in yer arms!"
Skinny Drug-addict Hooker: "Whatever bitch! Wherever you stand, I'ma stand beside'dja!"
