HONOLULU | The Collection | 450 FT | 43 FLOORS

Quote:
About 80 percent of the units in The Collection were snapped up during an opening sales weekend that had people lined up before dawn for first crack at the 397 apartments in A&B Properties’ 43-story condominium project in Kakaako.

Prospective buyers were out in full force on Friday morning, with the first people taking their place in line starting at 4:49 a.m., and 13 people behind them about an hour later. “It was very busy and we’re certainly pleased with the activity,” A&B Properties Senior Vice President of Development Rick Stack told PBN. “We still have a lot of good units available. We’ve still got a ways to go.” Sales for the $200 million project, to be developed on the former CompUSA site, began at 9 a.m. this past Saturday at 680 Ala Moana Blvd.

The Collection includes a high-rise tower, a mid-rise building, town homes, as well as retail shops and restaurants. Prices for the tower, which will have 397 units, range from $300,000 to $700,000 for a unit. Sales for the town homes and mid-rise projects are expected to start later this year, Stack said.

The Collection is expected to take up to 30 months to build, with the estimated construction start date at least a year away.

I just checked the sales updates on this tower, and most of it is sold out. Looks like its making some good progress and now all that awaits is construction.

In terms of the skyline ranking, this will be one of the tallest in the city. Tied with two other towers of the same height which are under construction at 450 FT.

Not bad. I sort of like the quasi-fins at the top complementing the balconies.

Alexander & Baldwin's The Collection condo project in Honolulu 93% sold

Quote:
Alexander & Baldwin Inc.'s The Collection residential project in Kakaako, which started construction in October, has pre-sold 93 percent of its 450 units, the vast majority of which are being purchased by local buyers, the company said Monday.

Honolulu-based Alexander & Baldwin (NYSE: ALEX) said 88 percent of the units pre-sold at The Collection were under binding contracts.

A&B paid $23 million to Kamehameha Schools for the former CompUSA lot it is developing as its The Collection project in Kakaako.

"We continue to expect good sales activity at our development projects to carry over into 2015," A&B Chairman and CEO Stanley Kuriyama said in a statement.

A&B's 340-unit Waihonua at Kewalo high-rise project across from Ala Moana Center in Honolulu is sold out, with the last of the units closing in January.
