Google "streetviewing" finally arrives in Canadian cities

On the way home from work today I saw a google street view camera car going down Elbow Dr. here in Calgary. Looks like the street view option will be available for Canadian cities soon. Hopefully I got in on the shot hehe.

They've been snapping photos around Hali here for a few weeks now.

They're also in Saint John.

They were already in Edmonton. If you use Canpages.ca you can get a version of Streetview now of parts of Vancouver. Quite cool.

I always enjoy going through streetview in American cities and it will be awesome to have in Canadian cities.

Yeah I saw one about a month ago in Hull. Looks like they are using the same cars everywhere (Cobalts).

Wonder why they pick the brownest, ugliest time of year to shoot photos.

I saw that car while I was sitting on a patio @ Buzzards on Friday, didn't know what it was at first.

I agree, when they did Edmonton a couple weeks ago, the snow just melted and our green still hadn't come in yet. The trees were leafless and the grass was this brown muck. I seriously don't get why July or something wouldn't have been doable. They sure picked a crappy time, although I'm still glad they're doing it anyways.

They prefer to take pictures in cloudy weather, according to an article posted in the Waterloo section.

Caught one last week on Parc Avenue. Not only was it above the speed limit but it ran a red light. Morons.

Bear in mind these decisions get made in California.

I reckon you're right. But I also reckon that these people are a menace, someone needs to stop them. They might hurt some people.

I wonder how many people have tried to destroy those cameras.

...or steal them.

If they've already been shooting for weeks, then Montreal is going to look weird with some parts of the city with leafless trees while other parts will be green with leaves and flowers. It's actually green now, but I don't know if they're still shooting. ( I guess so)

It will be the back of my head on a shady patio, but I will know it's me!

They were in Winnipeg early last month, during the melt.

Worst time to do such a thing, with the spring melt and all...

That happened in London, England...they shot the same street months apart and when you go down the street the trees in a park suddenly burst into bloom.

Most if not all buildings visible, especially in residential areas.

Hull in March or April is one ugly place.

Anyone know the exact date that street views of Canadian cities go online?

I was there in May last year and it was pretty ugly then too.
