Successful Marriage of Historic and Modern Interiors

Post any examples of building interiors - office, retail, residential, hotel - that manage to strike the perfect balance between historic and modern .

A favorite of mine that's relatively unknown:

Hyde Park Bank - renovated in 2005 by Florian Architects

That project seems like the designers played it safe, using a totally opposite material palette and only relating the old to the new via arrangement. The kiosks, teller desks, etc are beautiful in their own right but the dialogue between old and new seems sorta flat. Oops... didn't notice the quartz and birds-eye maple, which relate nicely to the travertine walls.

It doesn't seem like there was much willingness to explore the wild-and-woolly world of sympathetic additions. Carlo Scarpa is of course the master of this:
