I just noticed that over the last week or so they have covered over the pedestrian walkway on the north side of the WTC 2. Interesting!

Obviously this would be done with above ground work on the tower starting but how much? I find it intriguing that they have done it now when all signs pointed to the tower going on hold once at grade. Would they do this now if the tower was going to be capped off and put on hold?

Have a look. What do you think?

progress guesses?

What's the next step? Finishing pouring the concrete for the current level, but there arn't any markings (paint and such) to build the next level, and the work on the elevator core is lopsided. I'm thinking that based on current progress if you look at photos, they should finish pouring the concrete by the end of January.

I know it is wishful thinking but the above ground core forms have started to be erected and there wouldn't be markings as from this point as it would be steel that would be going up now.

I had observed and wondered the same thing with regards to the covering of the pedestrian walkway out of the PATH station on Vesey St. in front of the site. Could be wishful thinking. At least that is what all indications point to.

That area was going to be closed and used as a staging area for tower 2. Then the plan was to extend the Vesy Street walkway over it last year, but they never got to it. Maybe they will cap the tower a few levels off ground like tower 3. The plan hasn't been revealed.

10 trucks of concrete in NYC equals just 100 Yds. not 3000.

On hold until it finds a tenant, but tenants won't fill it because the west side offers cheaper space.

It doesn't. But this tower isn't on the west side anyway.

This is one has had the same problem as 3 almost from the beginning. This is very certainly on hold, and it will be until Tower 3 secures its anchor tenant. I think Larry Silverstein's priority is 3 at the moment. 2 will be last.

Try and think of it as 'one step at a time.'
