The old North Pier building has offices, a large gallery/collaborative art space and a few years ago, condos that were planned for the top 2-3 floors (don't think that's happening any time soon). I don't think it's really fully leased anymore but (unfortunately) the old Prentice Women's hospital has a better chance of getting torn down before North Pier..sadly

^ Besides, the North Pier building adds some history and texture to an otherwise rather bland Streeterville streetscape. This part of town needs more buildings like this, not fewer.
There are still PLENTY of sites in the area for highrises.
