Thumbs up Favorite Skyscrapers & Highrises

These are mine, at least my favorite historic ones that I could think of.
Show your favorites by borrowing them from the diagram also, if you feel like it that is.

Hey, if that's your style of bldg and you included a couple from Pittsburgh, I'm suprised you didn't also like the old Gulf Oil corporate headquarters which is right next to the Koppers. 582ft high which wasn't bad for 1932. But look how it's dwarfed by newer skyscrapers in this picture:

Like I said, the ones I could think of. I basically overlooked that one, and I'm sure I've overlooked a few more. The Grant is nice also.

Some good classic skyscrapers there to be sure.

Did you leave out the Chrysler and ESB because they are too popular?
(and the Carew tower in Cinci since it looks like a baby ESB?)

And just one other thing... that Fisher Building diagram looks too fat. I see that it attempts to show the building from an angle but it looks like the viewer is seeing BOTH sides almost head-on. The roof angle appears too shallow as well.

Yeah I left the ESB & Chrysler out because they are so common to see or hear of. I did leave out the Carew, the Guardian, and a few others on purpose. When it comes to certain buildings like slabs, shafts, or with dark colors, they just don't strike me like the ones above. I do like some of these buildings, but maybe not as much. As you can see, I mostly like buildings that have crowns, spires, and lighter colors. If a building has a darker color it could be one of my top favorites as long as it has a nice crown and building design. As for the Fisher bldg. drawing, I went by pics and drew one side at a time and put the sides together. That building is a bitch to draw, and I've just been to lazy to try and modify it. Thanks for the input though.

Thumbs up Nice

Very pretty ones. did you take, I mean the diagrams, from this site here included or you made by yourself??? From Sao Paulo, like the old ones, maybe you would like the Banespa tower in the old centre neighborhood part, as it has spire and let`s say a glass observation deck on it. It has some Birmann 10 I think, it is modern and has roof similar to the World Financial Centre are in NYC. From Munich the best example like the old ones that have spire and gothic impressions is the `new`Rathaus at centre.

Me personnaly prefers the Bank of China in Hong Kong as it is a composing of triangles and piramide with different roofs and also the form is spire one to the whole bldg. I think Its best example mixing old gothic concept with modern clean appearance that make it too futuristic up today and too different one.

Unfortunatly I do not know how to put diagrams like you do here, sorry, to exemplifying my descriptions.

Yeah, I used the diagrams from this site. The only building I drew was the Detroit Fisher Bldg.

First I had to get the instructions on how to upload it, and now I need to quit being lazy and upload it. The drawing isn't perfect, but thanks

I love the Cathedral of Learning in Pittsburgh. It is the best building that any university in America has.

On this I expanded a little on a few more that are pretty nice. Also I added The ESB and Chrysler, which should have been on the list in the first place.

I suppose it is. BTW, I should have put The Book Cadillac Hotel in the top favorites list. I somehow forgot.

I would have to say my top 5 favorite NYC buildings are the Trump, Woolworth, Met Life, Helmsley, and Gas buildings.

They're old, but I wouldn't say they're tired.
