Interesting to see that it's going to be a mixture of both office and residential... in fact that's what the area will probably become.

Wow glad I was wrong too.... :-| And the report I read lol. Maybe that's where teh confusion was. We were thinking it was being reduced when in fact the project was being increased!

Awesome news.

A great addition to up-and-coming "Downtown Surrey".

Excellent development. The Surrey jokes of old won't hold any water soon. We'll need a new city in Metro Vancouver to make fun of.

There is a bonus residential tower not built or mentioned yet pictured in a few of those renderings. It has been proposed for a while though(could be wrong but I think it will be 39 stories).
Anyways the fact that its pictured in the rendering probably means that it has moved along and official announcement should be on its way(i hope).

Its on the west side of the guide way and south of all the built towers.

Ya I noticed that as well cornholio. Most of the block it may sit on is being developed into lowrise condos, but there still is room for a highrise to squeeze in......I think. Lets cross our fingers.

The one I have lsited for that is 33 storeys developed by G5 Properties Ltd. 13433 Gateway Drive so that places it where that building in the rendering is.

Says it is in the Servicing Agreement Stage (passed third reading April 26th 2007). No idea what the hold up is.

I also see 3 others listed. One registered as 0793260 B.C. Ltd. with an address of 10925 West Whalley Ring Road. Claimed to be 27 storeys (Project review stage as of December 2007). Another 2 are behind the one you mentioned (the lot just north of there) which are proposed as 34 storey and 39 storey high-rises developed by Seagate Properties (Project review also).

So all and all if the plans go through and buildings built, you'll see another 4 towers built in addition to the Gateway park portion (3 towers looks like) and if you add on City Point, that's 9 towers total in the Gateway block.

Not too bad.

It's now listed officially as app # 7908-0112-00:

Three office buildings containing approximately 47,000 square metres (500,000 square feet) of office and retail space and two high-rise apartment towers containing a total of 450 units.

Downs Archambault (now DA Architects) has updated their website with the project:

http://www.da-architects.ca/projects...ark-surrey-bc/

Overview
This development is designated as mixed-use with office space, restaurants, retail, high-rise residential building, underground parking, and offers significant public access open space. This project is designed to achieve the LEED Gold level of sustainable implementation, starting with offering recycling space on site. Some of the issues addressed in the design will be water efficiency and conservation through rainwater harvesting and re-use. A vital part of the storm water management initiative will be green roofs.

Good news for the Gateway Development.

Although the development is still in the middle stages of its design phase the city of Surrey is attempting to fast track this development so we may see action here sooner than expected!

I dont know how much difference this could make, as Surrey's political scene is quite foreign to me, but it sounds as though there is alot of enthusiasm for this project from both the developer and city's camps.

As there should be. This is one project that looks like it could help change the face of Surrey as we know it.
