Well, the Old Mill is pretty sketchy these days. Maybe it always was, I dunno.

I heard somewhere that a HRM councillor was saying that the proposed Sobeys would also have a NSLC included? I guess that means they would leave the Bridge store?

I am unconvinced this is a good location. Maybe they know something I don't.

Sobeys on Primrose is closing.

Full service Sobeys (Deli, Fish, Meat and Bakery) with pharmacy is opening on 200 Wyse which was bought by Plaza Corp.

Demolition of the Old Mill site is to begin in August.

I guess Sobeys knows something I dont. Looks like they are building a large, full service store on the site. Hoping for future development in the area perhaps?

Are they leasing the whole space or will it be subdivided into several units? The current Toys R Us space is massive.

There is an interesting piece on CBC Nova Scotia about the increasing rents along Spring Garden Road. It's a radio piece which can be seen on the main Nova Scotia webpage from CBC.

Forever 21 usually opens as XXI Forever which is usually about 25 000-30 000 sq ft, so it will probably take up the vast majority of the toys r us space.

Good to see Mic Mac getting a MAJOR retailer again. This will be huge for them. Forever 21 has been eyeing Halifax for a while waiting for a large space. HSC obviously doesn't have that major space available.

Nope. That is owned by a fella from PEI who is a serial entrepreneur and has talked about putting a "motor lodge" there.

What is "Forever 21"?

Forever 21 is quite possibly the most popular store in Canada (maybe US as well) for young women/girls. It's is massively popular and you can already see on twitter the excitement over this store that won't be open until sometime in 2013.

They make "fast fashion" clothes similar to H&M but the clothes tend to be more like H&M mixed with American Eagle (brighter, etc.)

They also make men's clothes, but it is much more popular amoung women and usually the stores are 80-90% women's clothing

Are you talking about the vacant lot? Im not sure who owns it.

There is a older Save Easy in Dartmouth Shopping Centre across the street. If Loblaws does own the vacant lot, I can see them closing the Save Easy and opening a Superstore on that lot.. Particularly if Sobeys builds a new centre just down the street.

Who owns the DSC? Its a sketchy little mall that could do with a major remodel.
/Edit: It's a CANMARC property

The Save Easy was already converted to a No Frills about a year ago.

I can see why it is always busy. I went there one day to pick up a couple things and the prices were significantly lower than both Superstore and Sobeys. The week after that visit, I made the trip across the bridge just to do my week's worth of grocery shopping!

It's great for those who aren't making much money for sure.

I believe that one used to be a full service Superstore that was "downgraded".

I still wonder if the Wyse Rd area will support a full service Sobeys and Superstore (potentially), considering that the local SaveEasy was downgraded to No Frills.
