The Great Canadian roadsign thread

Post unique, weird, or otherwise misunderstood road signs here.

No right hand turns on red lights on the Island of Montreal

(LTR, Top then bottom row): playing hockey in a very small room, a room with some books, presumably culture spot, stinky farmer with overalls selling fruits/beggies, church (yay!), flooded basement with extraction ladder, pound of flesh, your trailor-hitched boat has detached and is heading for the lake.

I've always thought these Quebec signs went hard:

radio-canada

I also love the Quebec sign for industrial parks - big Futurist vibes:

There is a similar sign on the TCH at the Tantramar Marsh here in southeastern NB (sans the snowflakes). It shows a huffing God-like figure (as above) blowing an 18 wheeler off the road, with a couple of flashing lights that are activated when the winds are particularly high.

I've always been fascinated by the Risque du Brouillard Quand le Feu Clignotent roadsigns in Quebec.

Most Quebec roadsigns are pretty self evident because of vocabulary overlap between English and French, but "brouillard" has no English correlate. I always feel sorry for any American confronted with these large yellow cautionary signs with flashing light on a Quebec autoroute. I can see them freaking out, not knowing that brouillard simply means "fog."

I think that just occasionally, and simply for purposes of clarity, it might not hurt the Quebec government to make just a few roadsigns bilingual, if for no other reason than simply for safety purposes...........

If you can't look at a sign and understand it within a fraction of a second, it's a bad sign!

Yep I came across one on I-75 between Ignace and SSM 6 years ago.

Haha. Old man Winter looks like some guy on my street. I must stay away from his icy breath of death.

When I visited Boston in 2008:

Sorry, the rest of these are just weird signs I spotted in Ottawa.

Apparently the old Moose warning sign was problematic so a Calgary TikTok star designed a new one:

This one's badass:

Maybe it was the droop. Made motorists feel sad. The new one is a moose with purpose!
