Baltimore Penn Station redevelopment

There is a paywall for this article but there are several good renderings.

Penn Station, midtown redevelopment projects could top $500M, begin this spring

At first, Downtown Baltimore growth might seem underwhelming. But when we look the already high density and how populated it is compared to even bigger cities, it's doing quite well. Moreover, Baltimore, unlikely most of cities this decade, is still losing population.

I'm not from Baltimore, but I recently heard about the massive $5.5 Billion Port Covington redevelopment, and im surprised to find there is no thread for it, and it also appears to be absent in this thread

It's had a lot of question marks surrounding it due to Under Armour's financial woes (stock price was $53 five years ago and is now $20, after dipping below $8 last year). So I'm not holding my breath: https://www.baltimoresun.com/busines...xim-story.html

It sounds like you're thinking of the Under Armour campus portion of Port Covington. There hasn't been any action there but the larger development is well underway

Long time site lurker. Live in sunny San Diego, but I am from the Baltimore area. Figured Charm city needed a update. Construction in Baltimore has always been off of peoples radar but there's some charm/mystique to that. Here's small list of some major projects that have or are in the middle of going up. There's frankly too many apartments (major and small), rehabs and office/bio-med buildings being chucked up left and right atm to list them all let alone post/find pictures.

https://www.skyscrapercity.com/threa....769512/unread (most viewed/read thread on the entire site) actively tracks development and new construction in the city

It's wild to see it change so fast every time I return to visit.

Baltimore Peninsula
What was formerly Port Covington is now Baltimore Peninsula. Phase 1B is wrapping up construction now on 1.1 million square feet of Office/Residential.
2 more buildings are next in que for a potential 2023 or early 2024 ground breaking.
Jerry Jackson/Baltimore Sun

Allied Harbor Point - (25FL & 20FL / 500 Units)
These are the tallest buildings currently U/C.
Beatty Development/IG

T. Rowe Price HQ - 2x 7FL / +400k sq/ft.
A 4.5 acre park is also being built in conjunction to the buildings sitting immediately to their west.
https://www.skyscrapercity.com/membe...imore.1273983/

414 Light Street - 44FL / 396 units

One Light Street - 28FL / Mixed Use

555 President Street - 23FL / 400 units

Liberty Harbor East - 24FL / 282 units

The city isn’t building skyscrapers left and right atm but the infill development is wild. There’s a pretty much a new multi-unit proposal announced every other week. This one is from today (no renders yet)

Skyscrapers are nice to see but all these smaller projects are what can help change a neighborhood and improve the city.

Pretty much. That being said the city has a good bit of skyscrapers/high-rises in the pipeline.

"Federal Hill’s Southern Land Company is planning a 70-unit apartment building at 1302 Key Hwy. in Riverside/Key Highway. The property, which was formerly a gas station from the 1930s until 1993, is currently being used as an industrial garage as well as the home to the On Brazilian Time food truck."

"Work has begun on a new 280,000 sq. ft. office, retail, and fitness building at Under Armour’s new global headquarters campus in Baltimore Peninsula (formerly Port Covington). This new building, which is situated at the northern section of the property near E. Cromwell St. and the mixed-use Baltimore Peninsula Development, is currently being called Teammate Building 2 (TMB2)."

Renders were released the beginning of the year, but movement on 300 E. Pratt Street should start accelerating with the sale of Harbor Place being complete. City wide voting-discussions for the pavilion redevelopments start in January
