Stunning images. Especially the one showing the core from the river... never seen it from that angle before.

That set of photos on flickr has some great shots along the Ottawa River from Lachute/Grenville area all the way up to North Bay....it keeps on going after that to Oshkosh, WI.....a lot of views I wasn't aware of and some great shots of Autoroute 50 under construction...the photos are from July 2008, so there must be progress on the Autoroute since then.

I'm just dreaming aloud, sorry.

But isn't that just the most wasted space in Ottawa? Waterfront... Downtown...
This place has serious value!

Isn't the Domtar site supposed to be the new home of the Science & Tech museum? I mean, I think that's the proposal.

It's a nice idea. Reuse an industrial site for a industrialish (bonus points for new word!) Science & Tech museum.

The City of Gatineau had some ambitious concept sketches for that space, a great big plaza with a canal:

You can see the clues for the museum of science and tech in this:

I'm not sure how they could narrow Taché to two lanes, seeing that it is a wide busy boulevard today. Underground maybe?. The concept behind thickening the block south of du Portage and expanding storefronts on the other side is a great idea though:

I thought the City of Gatineau cancelled that aspect fo the plan and is still searching for what to do with teh Domtar site?

I think I have been to that exact spot. You take the promenade almost to the very end.. there is a parking lot on the south side with a trail that leads to a lookout with spectacular views. Hard to believe this was almost 4 years ago I took this with my point and shoot... I need to go back there with my nikon..

more here.
