This building's height is a little off.

DOB lists as 627 feet, which is to highest occupied floor, not to roof. Probably at least 650 feet per Emporis standards if a flat roof (not including water tanks or mechanical equipment).

Also, this building will be huge. Well over 1.2 million square feet, which is gigantic for an apartment building. It's basically the size of the Comcast Center in Philly.

Seems the height on this one is always in flux. It's just too bad they weren't able to get that subway station together.

Probably because the design is still in flux. Any recent renderings? I think the first one (which I illustrated) was the most interesting.

Certainly a lot of false starts on this building. A very fustrating development. But, its on 42nd street, just can't see it being dormant for much longer.

Another view into the pit, with the Silver Towers looming in the background...

Super you-heard-it-here-first world exclusive construction news! I present to you blurry-iphone-cam photos of nothing short of the installation of a tower crane at the site this weekend! We're going up.

PS: I'd take more photos tonight on my way back into town, but it'll be rather dark by then. Next time someone heads over this way for some compensated companionship, be sure to get a few shots.

Well, it's about time they got active again here. Maybe they just don't want Silverstein to get all the glory on W. 42nd...

Related just confirmed that its 1.2 million foot twin-towered mixed use project at 42nd St. and Tenth Ave. will kick into gear any second. KSW Mechanical Services has been re-awarded an HVAC contract that had been placed on hold in December 2008, and the fully negotiated labor agreement has only to be signed.

The building should be completed in 2011.

I love how the 42nd street rendering of the north face of the building shows a reflection of the ESB to the south.

This design is like a Men's warehouse suit. Bland and out-of-date enough to be ugly.

The only saving grace is it will make it more difficult to see one of the ugliest buildings in the city, its striped brick neighbor to the east.

Wait. If Related just said that this project is actually twin-towered, then the render above can't be the project, right?

That's not the project. So if it's twin towered it's either they're talking about the silver towers, or this tower is going to get exciting. Every twin ends up to look amazing. If this is a twined project then we should end up seeing something good.

I think this is an older, outdated rendering, and the project is now twin-towered.

Site just might win the award for the most confusing array of renderings. I don't know what worst, a building being constructed with no renderings, or, a building being constructed with three or more different renderings.

LOL. Maybe it's just to confuse the NIMBY's. They had a time fighting this thing early on, with the planned Cirque du Soleil. But if you keep'em guessing, they don't know how to fight you...
