Leafs are playing video game hockey right now. It's the most enjoyable Leafs hockey I've watched in my life. There's a buzz going around at the office right now talking about all the highlights from the night before.

I was dreaming that after Tavares said fuck the notion that Toronto guys don't want to come home and play with all that pressure and attention that other guys like Stamkos, Seguin, PK, Burns, Pietrangelo, Giordano, Monahan, McDavid, etc. would come form a super team like in the NBA.

Of course, gotta get rid of the cap. Though when there was no cap back in the day, didn't help the Leafs much, or the Rangers for that matter. Or take a deep, deep hometown discount. All star Demarcus Cousins joined the Warriors for $5 mil this summer, which is paltry compared to the $35 mil his teammate Curry makes. Can always dream...

I don’t know how well the Canucks will do this year but I sure hope they finish above the Coilers

Indeed. Crazy numbers thus far.

Oilers first 10 are nuts. Other than the team issue, we could go 0-10 from this scheduling.

Our overseas game was last year but our schedule has us playing the top ten teams in the league not including Calgary to start the season.

Honestly, this team is pretty mediocre still. We’re probably going to struggle against top teams.

You're flattering them They are going to struggle against almost all teams. Same team as last year so why would anyone expect anything other than mediocrity? I can only name maybe three teams in the West that are as bad or maybe worse. Connor might get them close to the playoffs but it will be a Herculean effort.

Hes talking about the leafs and hes right no game has looked like even a second round team. You cant rely on the power play in the playoffs, and our 5 v 5 has been ugly. I'll enjoy it while it lasts bit if this continues expect some serious regression from the leafs when matthews (surprise) cant maintain a 50% shooting percentage for the whole season.

The Leafs haven't exactly been beating up on playoff teams through their first five games. Their next six games are as follows:

WSH, LA, PIT, STL, WPG, WPG

We'll see how they fare on that stretch.

Toronto are the early favourites, but it's a long season, and it's very, very early still. Like I say at this time every year, waiting until about 15-20 games is where you can start to get an idea where your team will sit in the standings.

Well we beat the Stanley Cup Champions on Saturday, and we never should have lost to Ottawa, we won't let that happen again. As long as we don't have any serious injuries this team will only grow better each game. As for Austin Mathews only getting about 51% of the face offs, that doesn't really matter too much with this team.

Shooting percentage is not faceoff wins.

The Canucks lost half their centres due to injury in one game including their young star Petterson on a body slam concussion.

I have no idea what you're getting at. Matthew's is going to start scoring more than once for every two shots he takes? I'll happily give you 100:1 odds on that one.
