14th Street Tower

With PFVS Architects, Nate produced all presentation and working images, helping to enter and win a competition for this 50+ story tower. Still in planning stages, the tower promises to be a new landmark on the Atlanta skyline.

Not crazy about it. Lacks any sense of elegance, seems too disjointed, could be any new crappy tower in Southeast Asia. And the way it meets the corner at ground level is criminal. Why are cars given priority there?

It's a good start, but I believe they need to dial it back a notch. It doesn't match the more gothic theme of that area. If they dial it back, it then reminds me of a shorter version of the new building in Dubai.

I also think they need to make sure it doesn't block out too much of what's behind it from being visible from the highway.

Did Homer Simpson design this building? Because it reminds me of "The Homer".

Hey, that's hitting below the belt We have some nice stuff going up out here these days! But yes, there are exceptions: I call this one 'a paean to Marietta'. Though it's just been completed, it's already becoming a Bangkok landmark, e.g. 'you know, the Mexican place across from the Big Chicken.'

Aside from the chicken and the tinkertoys, however, I like the detailing on the building. It's like the architect didn't know when to stop.

To bring my post back to Atlanta, I agree that the rendering for the 14th Street Tower is a disjointed mess.

Well call me crazy but I kind of like it. It reminds me of those Transformer things my grandkids used to play with.

Ha, did not mean to offend . I think we can rest assured this thing will never get built, thank God.
