That's the MetroMover downtown. It's been there for over 20 years now.

Tri-Rail station set to open at Miami airport

Rail News: Passenger Rail

Tri-Rail's new station at the Miami International Airport is scheduled to open April 5, the South Florida Regional Transportation Authority (SFRTA) announced yesterday.

Part of the Miami Central Station at the Miami Intermodal Center, the Tri-Rail station will provide an immediate connection to the airport via the automated MIA Mover light-rail shuttle, SFRTA officials said.

SFRTA Chair Bruno Barreiro expects the new station to become an international transit hub.

"This is another significant milestone, which is symbolic of our vital role to connect South Florida to the world," he said in a press release.

Trains on the start of the northbound run will experience a slight schedule adjustment as a result of the additional stop, although arrival times for other stations would remain the same as they are now, SFRTA officials said.

The Miami Central Station already serves as a stop for Miami-Dade Transit's Metrorail, with Amtrak and Greyhound expected to join in the future, according to SFRTA.

Privé developers receive building permit from city of Aventura

After months of litigation, developers built their sidewalk in March, despite physical intervention from nearby residents.

Privé will include 70,000 square feet of indoor amenity space and will offer outdoor amenities that include two pools, a tennis court, playground, jogging path, fishing pier and marina. Units will range from 2,585 square feet to more than 9,000 square feet. The towers are designed by Sieger Suarez.

Verzasca Group to launch tower on Denny’s site in Sunny Isles Beach

The tower marks the third project in the United States for the Russian developers, who plan to invest $700 million on South Florida projects. The group has two developments underway in Bay Harbor Islands, Pearl House and Le Jardin, which are each nearly 50 percent sold, Barksy said.

Faena announces Faena Versailles luxury resi towers in Miami Beach

Classic will be located in the former Versailles Hotel at 35th Street and Collins Avenue. The building’s 1940 facade, grand lobby, terrazzo flooring and custom chandeliers will be preserved.

The tower’s 22 units will include ocean views, and custom kitchens and bathrooms. They’ll range from one to four bedrooms with anywhere from 1,034 square feet to 2,743 square feet, in addition to two duplex penthouses with up to 7,300 square feet.

Faena Contemporary’s 41 units will range from one to five bedrooms, and from 1,111 square feet to 5,469 square feet. Two penthouses will exceed 8,000 square feet; one of which includes a 2,097-square-foot infinity pool and a 6,600-square-foot rooftop deck.

Prices range from $3 million to more than $50 million. Douglas Elliman is the exclusive sales and marketing firm.

Phase one of Southgate Towers’ $40M renovation complete

Massive Coral Gables mixed-use project refined; wins preliminary approval

After nearly eight hours of discussion, Coral Gables is closer to approving its biggest development project ever.

On first reading Thursday, city commissioners gave preliminary approval to an updated version of the Mediterranean Village project — a controversial mixed-use deal that has developers, politicians and residents on their toes.

Developers will move forward with the project and are set to come back at second reading after city officials asked them to revise some additional concerns.

If passed on second reading, the massive $500 million plan developed by Agave Ponce LLC would include a high-end hotel, 300,000 feet of office space, restaurants, retail establishments and a gym. It’s also slated to include 214 condo units and 15 townhouses.

City officials pushed to have developers scrap the originally proposed cinema and a residential tower, reduce the size to about 1.1 million square feet, and redesign the hotel so that the entrance is on Galiano Street, not on Ponce de Leon Boulevard, derailing major traffic.

The refined plan is about 200,000 square feet less than the original proposal. It was also reduced by in height from 218 feet of habitable space to 190, meeting the city’s code.

The mixed-use venture would rise on the former Old Spanish Village site on Ponce Circle, just a few blocks south of Miracle Mile.
