Project Update: 6750 Main

Quote:
Plans are well underway for a luxury hotel housed in the heart of the Texas Medical Center.

Houston-based Medistar Corp. and TRC Capital Partners, an affiliate of The Redstone Cos. of Houston, have entered a joint venture partnership to develop a 357-room hotel at 6750 Main Street, in the central portion of the Texas Medical Center. The hotel will stand at 21 stories and include 20,000 to 25,000 square feet of office and meeting space. Restaurants will occupy the hotel's first floor.

Details of the hotel branding weren't disclosed, but the brand is a "nationally and internationally known hotel," said Kelly Lindig, vice president of development and acquisitions at Medistar.

Lindig said groundbreaking should kick off at the beginning of the second quarter, and the hotel should be complete in the second quarter of 2018.

That's correct. Seems like high-rise development is about to take off for SA!

FORT WOTH | Marriott AC Hotel | FT | 14 FLOORS

Project: Marriott AC Hotel

Quote:
This fourteen story building will be new construction, to house a Marriott AC hotel. The hotel will have 180 guest rooms, plus restaurant, bar and meeting functions. A roof top pool/amenity deck will also be part of the hotel. Retail space on the sides of the building, at grade level, will allow for a retail link to Sundance Square, which is a half a block away. The modern design uses a combination of materials to allow the new building to blend with the adjacent historic structures. The side is very urban and is 60’x 200’ in size.

I consolidated a 2016 list from the CTBUH. This being for Dallas.

Very cool - it's a long time coming. San Antonio is one of my favorite cities to visit. Though having grown up just north of there, I still feel like I don't know it exceptionally well. Anyway, glad to see it's going vertical!

Lightbulb HOUSTON | 7200 Main | ~50 Floors | 4 Towers

Project: 7200 Main

Quote:
What's known so far, courtesy of forum contributor urbannizer, is that Springwoods Realty Company purchased a sizeable parcel of land at 7200 Main in 2006. Lying on the outskirts of the largest medical center in the world, the site is currently occupied by Saint Nicholas School, II and a large grassy field.

Years later, renderings depicting numerous towers at 7200 Main made their way online. The concept was drafted by HOK. The images show four highrise towers, including a potential supertall building in the centre of the site.

The developer purchased the remaining plots of land in December 2015, and two months later, the school announced they would relocate to a property much further south by 2018 as part of a new mixed-use project.

I quite like the proposal for 7200 Main Street.

Was checking the area: https://www.google.com/maps/place/72...7acb45!6m1!1e1

I wonder if it be medical offices or a separate entity (possibly finance)?

If medical, quite a change for the area being the largest tower or a signature tower for the medical complex.

That's the old proposal. It's five stories below ground parking and 18 floors of residential above ground.
