A reminder from the WFP article in mid-March:

Quote:
A senior official with the project’s developer ... said the first phase of preparation work on the south foundation pad is expected to get underway next month and will take several months to complete.
https://www.winnipegfreepress.com/sp...416191744.html

So as per publishing of article, started in April and "will take several months to complete", with drew noting next week will start vacuuming gravel off the roof, and the expected start of construction beginning in "summer/fall"

So we should expect to see the "fun stuff" around August I bet

The expectation was for it to be done by 2020, around the same time tower 3 and 4 at TNS wrap up

We can just pretend like they've been doing excavation and the foundation this entire time instead

You can see inside they're moving walls around and such so they can do the work. So it's apparent things are going on. Just can't see it.

There's been nothing exciting on top of Winnipeg Square since my last photo, aside from them putting a temporary cap on the two columns they opened up.

I'll post some more when I see anything interesting.

Possibly bagging the gravel to sell or reuse?

Note that this article is from March 2017, not 2018...so I don't think we have to wait til August to see the fun stuff starting.

Last week, maybe 10 days ago, there were stacks of large, one inch thick, rubber mats on the roof. They are not there now in that last photo.

They are pouring some columns on Friday but it will still be some time before they pour the re-enforced elevator cores.

I noticed today the site office is finished in the concourse, complete with evacuation maps and such...seems like it is moments away from a full start.

Excellent location for a construction cam eh boys?
it'll be an added bonus if they actually had one for this build.

Reinforcing of the core and columns for the new tower is already underway.

IIRC, the first structure to appear on the exterior will be the new area that is going up between the two towers.

No, no, the sandbags were brought up there full, and then placed all over the section that's on the Fort Street. I wish I knew how to post a photo as I work on the 10th floor at BellMTS across the street.
