The public hearing for the MPS ammendments is being held at Regional Council on August 10th. If approved then the development agreement will probably go before CCC in September.

I agree that I do like the original better, although there are aspects of the new version that I like.

It's good to see W.M. Fares is doing so well. Seems most of the recent proposals have Fares involved in some way... Whether it's developing, or just designing the buildings.

Yes; that's correct. Is anyone watching?

Yah I watched it.

Pretty quick and simple public hearing. Only two people (plus Mr. Fares) talked and they were all in favor. Councillors didn't even discuss the ammendments.

PASSED so the DA will return to CCC after the ammendments are approved in about a month or so.

Nice!

With Bayiew, 6955 Bayers, this development, and Craigmore built (all of which I consider within "west end halifax") there will be a decent amount of new density in decent proximity to downtown.

I wonder if we will see real hubs emerge in each neighborhood. I think its all good for a rail or brt system!

All of the above with a stadium down the rd on Young and Windsor would be crazy.

I was just going through this case on HRM's website - it turns out the DA was attached to the staff report.
I think it's all been approved, MPS amendments, LUB amendments and the DA. The city's website says it all went on August 10.

The proposed DA is always attached to the MPS/LUB ammendments for some reason. The projects always return to the community council for final say though.

I hope they use a cladding more similar to the first proposal. The stone effect in the most recent renders wasn't too attractive... they should try to use something similar to the Bayview Condos (Fares as well).

Fares as done an amazing job with the Trillium, so I hope the benchmark for materials has been set.

I'm excited to see what walking down Bayers with this and 6955 Bayers rd. built!

This area is building up nicely - man; when I grew up in this neighbourhood (I lived up the hill from Burton Ettinger) it never dawned on me that the area would change.

I'm glad to see it is; for the better.

My aunt helps (or helped) run the bingo in the hall there every Tuesday night. My step father's funeral was here.

Don't quote me on this since the HRM calender is full of errors however;

It appears the final Public Hearing for this project will be on OCTOBER 4TH, 2010 at CCC's monthly meeting at unknown location at an unknown time (because of the error).

Assuming it gets approved the existing building is already abandoned (or mostly so) which means it will be purely up to the developer to start the project when the desire to.

I've been working on some research that actually involved talking to the planner for this project. When I get into the office on Monday; I'll give her a call and confirm.

Wow, now thats connected to the development community!

You should ask about final exterior materials. I really dislike the stone in the second set of renderings.

Wow, lets see if it gets built soon. Nice density coming into the west end / fairview areas with 6955 bayers.

Not sure if it means things will soon be rolling on this, but I saw Maritime Fence on the property today taking some measurements. We will soon see...

Probably for demolition.

Fares has at lot on their hands right now so at the earliest I'd estimate a Summer start (when the Trillium is, or close to, complete).
