It's taken 12-13 years just to get this (which I wouldn't believe until ground is broken). It's hard to be optimistic.

Correct. This is basically the pedestal and/or separate buildings that have always been there in one form or another in addition to a large parking ramp. The current one high-rise tower (Phase II) would be constructed in the empty back quadrant of this rendering.

Parkside at Shelby Farms seeks $96.4 million for public improvements, including parkway
Memphis Commercial Appeal

Quote:
The six partners of the 60-plus acre development of apartments, a hotel, retail and offices now expect to spend $375 million building Parkside. That's more than the Crosstown Concourse redevelopment ($200 million) and Graceland expansions ($137 million) combined. Parkside's boundaries form the profile of a poodle sitting atop Shelby Farms Park. The development of more than 20 buildings, parking facilities, promenades and green spaces will fill in the northwest corner of Mullins Station and Whitten Road.

Tri-State Bank building being demolished

Quote:
Crews this week are demolishing the former headquarters of Tri-State Bank at Main and Beale.

The black-owned community bank moved its headquarters to Union Avenue in Midtown recently, and sold its downtown site to Belz Investco for a reported $3 million.

The county says the 23,000-square-foot building was constructed in 1974.

Belz has not announced what will replace the building, which sits on a prominent downtown corner near the Beale Street entertainment district.

There had been a lot of speculation as to what could possibly go into that spot. A Hard Rock Hotel, a Hyatt Place, or a mixed-use type of development have been some of the ideas floated around. We'll have to wait and see what happens.

God I hope not. Those things are hideous from the outside (the poles/nets). I don't normally say this, but I'd be totally okay with it going to DeSoto County (or at least close to it).

Top Golf in Memphis is probably still a go, just not downtown. From the articles two years ago when it posted, some in detail said the executives from Top Golf are serious in expanding in Memphis. The CEO is from Memphis!

Here's a quote from TopGolf in Memphis sites "Topgolf is very interested in the Memphis market, and we are exploring potential locations in the region. We hope to one day become a part of this community and provide residents with another destination for entertainment."

Now... Hard Rock Hotel potential site. From above there's a larger surface parking lot next to the where the bank is being demolished. I wonder will Hard Rock (if they are planning there) will also develop the surface lot.

Too bad no casino.

Oh, Southwest is going to.up MEM/DAL to 3x daily during the week come 2019, weekend service seems to vary 1x to 2x on Sat to 2x to 3x on Sun.

That's great ews that they arw sending two more 737s a day in aND out of Memphis during the week. This will help with some better connecting times but I wish one of those weekday frequencies was LAS or PHX

I'm ready for AA to add LAX, outside of JFK, it's the only thing missing. They have upped DCA to 3x daily during the week, 2x to PHILLY and 2x to Miami later on. The DCA is on all 76 seaters. That's over 200 seats a day each way to DCA Mon thru Friday.
