By the type of bracing being used in the pictures, it looks like they where having trouble holding back the surrounding soil. I have seen far deeper excavations with far less bracing. Most likely very sandy soil. Does anyone know if this was to be deeper than 1 floor? If yes they would have to modify the plans and permits. That would hold things up.

The rain didn't do us much of a favour for most of the summer! we're rocking and rolling now though.
