Again, not every block needs to be your urban oasis.

But they all can at least be better than that.

This makeover will result in a better-looking garage. It is still a win. If this were on Jasper, yeah, I would be pissed, but based on its location, it is acceptable to me.

Edmonton building looks a whole lot better. I'd say not a huge difference on the curtain wall, but the podium is much improved, eliminating that outdated angled glass roof and precast concrete square walls sticking out.

Proposed treatment to the parking garage will make that stretch more inviting. A little retail frontage would be great, but as Cold said, it might not be feasible.

The recladding of the front of the federal building on Main Street in downtown Moncton is (virtually) complete. There is still some work to do on the west side of the building.

Looks great compared to the previous facade, although the perimeter clashes with the rest of the building. Not the best material, but just a small criticism.

Here's the building's front face before:

Yes, I should have included a "before" picture in my post.

It's actually hard to find a photo on the web showing the Federal Building. Here's one concentrating on the next door Dominion Public Building (also recently updated). You can see the federal annex immediately to the left.

The interesting thing is that the federal building in the photo above is already a reclad. The recladding was done about 15 years ago, but the workmanship was poor and the building was plagued by water leakage in behind the fascia. The new recladding is far superior both in terms of appearance and workmanship.

I was thinking that it was reclad before.....it didn't look like it was a very old building, and I would've doubted they'd build a new Federal building on that stretch.

I'm liking how this is turning out. I was not a fan of the concrete block look of the tower previously.

This former National Defence office building in Downtown Ottawa, on the corner of Rideau and King Edward, will be converted to student residences for the nearby University of Ottawa. This will be the second building on that corner, after the former Quality Inn, to be converted to student residences.

Before and after.

Reclad of a small office building on Terminal Road in Halifax. This is the edge of the quasi-industrial seaport area. The pedway is new:

Concrete block look? It was silver and black before. Or are you taking about when the insulation was temporarily exposed?

^ The Saskatoon project is coming along very nicely... that extra floor goes a long way.
