Duchess Says @ M Pour Montreal in the Old Port. I wrangled my way into the press area for this one and it was funny because the tourists didn't quite know what to make of them!

Duchess Says @ Nuit Blanche

I always miss 99% of Nuit Blanche because I head to the free super shows at Metropolis, Club Soda and SAT - all within a block of each other!

Warning: sound sucks, I was standing right next to a bin.

'Black Flag' Probably their biggest 'hit' lol along with 'Tenen Non Neu' the song in the video. Same bad sound, same bin.

These guys are fuuuuked good! Suuns (pronounced Soons) I caught them at Il Motore on my way back from buying groceries. No camera, but the first time I ever had to check a bag full of food at a bar (and a couple of beers that I bought)!

Basia Bulat. From Ontario I believe. she is amazing. I never heard of her till she was openng for Josh Ritter on his latest tour. I sat in awe watching her play a huge variety of instruments during her solo show.

Since I'm too inept to figure out how to embed videos, I'll just link two here:

National Treasure Number 1: Devin Townsend (Vancouver)

He first entered the spotlight as the singer on Steve Vai's album "Sex and Religion". What followed was a long and varied solo career, as well as the formation of the band "Strapping Young Lad"... pretty much the heaviest metal ever recorded. His solo career is a extremely musically diverse, ranging from brutally heavy metal, to angsty alternative, to completely chill ambient. His talents don't end at song writing. His mixing and producing prowess is legendary, both skills that he has honed by making extremely liberal use of multi-tracking. This song is from his newest album "Epicloud". It also showcases the vocal talents of Dutch singer Anneke van Giersbergen, ex-vocalist from "the Gathering".

National Treasure Number 2: Tegan and Sara (Calgary)

This duo probably needs less of an introduction here. Frankly, I don't know enough about them to write a big, flattering summary of their career. But, they've put out some truly excellent stuff over the last few years. This is their new single "Closer".
