Did anyone watch the Neil Young Hometown special that aired late last year ?

I taped it as I had the basement all ripped apart and the big tv and stereo disassembled at the time. I finally got that all put back together, and last weekend got a little bit (lot) drunk, and watched it with the old stereo just cranked. Really, really good show.

Here's a Rolling Stone article with a link to the show on Facebook

Have to agree. Saw Honeymoon suite Oct 12, 2017 at Northlands in Edmonton with Foreigner. Last concert ever at Northlands.

One of my favorite concerts in recent memory. So much history and memories with these bands. And all the concerts over the years at Northlands. My first concert there was in 1977!! lol.

Some contemporary Quebec pop music from my kids' playlist.

The first two were big hits this winter, spring and summer. They aren’t really my cup of tea.

And a good one from last year. This one I do like.

Hubert Lenoir - Fille de personne

Gender-ambiguous guy, but with a girlfriend. He appeared on the uber-commercial show La Voix and got surprisingly far. Can't recall if he won though. Was a finalist for the Polaris prize too.

A pretty interesting artist.

Chuck Lewis of the Masterless Men died at just 44. RIP, buddy. They were so good. And they had many of the Southern Shore's little oddities.

For example, I naturally say "You wouldn't" - as in, "If she offered ya a cake, you wouldn't have it!". But on the Southern Shore, they naturally say "you'd not", so it'd be, "If she offered ya a cake, you'd not have it!". It's all the little things like that why I just LOVE the Southern Shore accent.

Three of their songs/covers are Newfoundland folk classics. The one above... and this one...

Here comes that beacon across the sky,
And when I hold my head up high....

I really hated this one when it came out, probably cause Much Music and Much More Music played it so much but it eventually grew on me and I bought the CD and a couple of her followup albums.

It's a shame that this thread hasn't been updated for over a year and a half.
There is plenty of cool Canadian music we could be checking out.
Here is PLants and Animals, from 8 yeaars ago.

Interesting, that some music is so universally accepted (even as being a classic Nfld song) because of a recognizable maritime flavour. The song is written about Portland Maine. Not to be confused with another song which has the same title.
