First of all, Houston isn't Manhattan or NYC and I am sure Manhattan has ugly buildings too. I agree with your view of the building, it looks like a suburban hotel put in downtown and that's what it is. Hopefully it is successful and will help downtown out by bringing in some more patrons.

Oh dear! Then again the skyline views from the east side were already ruined by that other vile red brick mansarded monstrosity. I guess this is just the leftover dry heaves.

Based off the posted pics, the entire facade looks to be stucco. Perhaps this is the tallest stucco structure in the World.

At least its another parking lot that no longer exists.

A view of the rendering and the finished product

Labor Day Weekend

They cut away the top four floors from the finished product.

I was holding out hope that the top would make the building at least somewhat ok.

Totally agree... I always liked the artist's rendering, but I was excited for the spire.

More September Photos

I took these two weeks ago, but the bag is still up over the west side of the tower.

Oh good god that's horrible! At least they could have cut out a column or two of windows on that side of this stinky pile of poo.

I am so sorry, Houston. I can't imagine what you possibly could have done to deserve this horrible horrible building!
