You got that backwards.

The rods are outside of the glass.

Daquan. No offense dude but do you know anything about NYC aside from several blocks surrounding Ground Zero. The building in question is located on 59th Street, Central Park South at Columbus Circle.

You're probably thinking of the AT&T Long Lines Building, and the fact that you don't know about the Lollipop is rather unsettling...

I actually quite like the architecture on that one, too, especially considering the functional purposes it serves.

Forty years? That's half a lifetime of waiting...

You Must be thinking about the AT&T Long Lines Building. The Lolipop building is all the way in Midtown/Central Park/Colombus Circle Area.

Daquan13 This building is very important to the city. The fact that the tower and its phone lines are designed to withstand a nuclear blast makes this building quite inpressive. The building can be used as a fallout shelter and be self-sufficient for two weeks in wartime conditions.

Although the building has no windows, I love its location and dark yet mysterious look.

I saw this building at a distance today on my way home from Conn. It's got an amazing presence on the skyline! Quite an impressive addition to this city.

Seems like they could use this building in future movies for a villians HQ or a repressive regime's source of evilness.

Funny that the sunlight makes it look that much better though.

Update: 11/25/2006
NY Times Tower

Not much happening this week.

The only update is construction of a steel frame around the spire which is hardly worth a mention.

Here is the only update I could provide that shows anything, otherwise the entire structure (glass walls, rods, internal stairs, etc. all remain exactly the same as last week):

Perhaps it was a holiday for the construction workers, in that case, I look forward to next week with much eagerness.

Spires should always spark debate. (since height should be measured to roof or highest occuable floor)

However, I kind of like the spire on this one. I'll have to see this building in person.

And kudos to the AT&T Long Lines Building. Thant just made my day. I think its awesome.

So, the new Times building is in the center, right? Isn't that other building to the left with a spire a new building too? Does anyone know what it is?

Yes, the NY Times Tower on the right.
The Conde Nast Tower to it's left.

I hope adding (gulp) more rods to the screens that constitute the base of the NYT's spire will give the whole effect greater visual cohesiveness, at least.

Right now, the entire spire composition is an abject mess.
