Coming in from the south on Airport Parkway/Bronson the view of the Preston skyline is becoming pretty impressive obviously due to Icon, but also Nuovo and the student residences and other buildings. Spacing between buildings gives a nice variation in the line, as opposed to classic downtown which has no spacing between buildings when viewed from a distance and almost no variation in height. It's just a blob.
A (crappy) pic from my office this morning. Love how much taller than the Logan Building this beast is gonna be! Will be great to watch the construction from here once it pokes above its little neighbour.
If only our geography looked that spectacular "in real life". Reminds me of some of those small cities you drive through in NY State or Pennsylvania on the way to NYC (Syracuse, Scranton). Love to see a skyline right up against nature like that.

Is there an angle of the CBD skyline that you can do similar foreshortening to bring the Gatineau Hills into view? Would love to see that!
On a very clear day, it is actually possible to see mountains in New York State and Vermont from the Gatineau Hills. I've seen several pictures of Downtown Ottawa taken from up there and if you zoom on the horizon you can make out Mt. Whiteface and Lyon Mountain.
Looks to be in 30 floor territory....and it's funny to think that even at this height, the building seems tall for Ottawa already, and it's only going to set itself apart even more when it closes in on 40 floors and up...

Is that what they are? I knew it was Adirondacks in NY state. I see them often when we take off from YOW and I could really see them last weekend when we climbed at Oka, QC.

Yep. There are a few others that are very faintly visible, but those two are the most prominent.

The airspace around parliament hill (and thus downtown CBD) is restricted up to 3000', which probably hampers photo opportunities (angles) from a plane.
We fly at 3100. I prefer to be higher rather than lower - the ground goes by too fast when one is low! Aerialphotographs.ca gets good results low down, however.

The last one is from a friend's balcony. 3100' is usually where I am and airspace is essentially unrestricted above 3000. My favourite view of Ottawa is, however, from 1200' over Rockcliffe airport ... a bit off topic.
