New inputs

Hey there!

Can I suggest to provide some preferences according to size?
I mean, of course Paris and London are great! But how can you ever compare them to cities such as Zurich or Lisbon? As they are bigger, they intrinsically have an advantage over the others. So I suggest to compare different leagues

Let's say "champions league" is dedicated to the biggest cities: London, Paris, Moscow, Istanbul (may be Madrid, Athens, Rome and Berlin)
The second division might include the medium sized cities: Barcelona, Milan, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Stockholm, Brussels, Prague, St-Petersburg, Budapest, Lisbon, Vienna,...)

A third division might even be introduced for the "smaller" cities...

Europe has got a bunch of great cities, but here are my favourites per division:

1st div) London (though I didn't see Istanbul yet, which might come close ànd has got a huge climatic advantage )

2nd div) Lisbon, ooh I loved that city! And I must add Brussels in my favourites for obvious reasons

At least 90% of what is inside the Green belt is about housing sprawl. Be honnest once in your life.

I agree. That way of comparibg cities makes more sense.

First division : Paris, Rome
Second division : Amsterdam, Barcelona, Brussels
Third division : Toulouse, Florence

Mmmm I think you are talking about importance as capital and second cities in a country... because about size you are wrong. Barcelona has more inhabitants than Athens and Rome, to give an example (4.600.000 in metro)

Of the "big boys":

Athens, Paris, London ... in that order.

Can't beat the summer climate in Greece, period. This is a hugely important factor for me.

In fact, let me give everyone the weather forecast for Athens (actually pretty much all of Greece) for the entire summer:

Sunny and Hot.

Mmm...ok, I must admit I didn't really look at the numbers, sorry if I offended some people in Barcelona ... However, even Madrid, Berlin, Athens and Rome are definitely somewhat smaller than the first ones I named. That's why I put them between brackets. My point was just to say that comparing cities having really different sizes might be difficult or even irrelevant. But hey, if you prefer Barcelona over all other (even the bigger cities), it is, of course, your must absolute right!

Hard to compare since many of the cities are very different.

But may favourites of the ones I have visited are
1.Barcelona
2.London
3.Prague
4.Paris
5.San Remo
6.Monaco
7.Göteborg

I think I will like Madrid, Valencia, Frankfurt, Cologne, Munich, Birmingham, Budapest, Naples, Genua and Milan pretty much too.

Barcelona. The weather, the food, the night life, the pulse, the lifestyle. I want to live here!

Rome. A populated museum. I chose between Rome and Athens, but Rome wins for its better food, wine, coffe and ice cream. And despite its heavy traffic it's a relaxed city.

Berlin. Interesting modern history, liberal, vibrant and cosmopolitan. Will go there again in two weeks.

London. You never get tired of this city. It may rain all the time and have a somwhat grey feeling to it, but I will always want to get back here by some reason.

And, dare I say Stockholm? I've lived here for 12 years and I cannot help falling in love with it every spring when the city wakes up from its winter sleep. The water, the hills, the buildings, the parks, the international food, the arhipelago. Have a drink at Gerda at Norr Mälarstrand one of those warm summer nights when the sun refuses to go down, and you know what I mean...

In some way I liked most of the cities I've been to, but these are closest to top five: Vienna, Bern, Prague, Paris, Madrid, Gothenburg, Dubrovnik, Athens, Nice.

I've traveled to Europe three times in my life (so far). Once to London, once to Paris, and once to Munich/Salzburg.

Loved each one!!

Such a big world. So many interesting places I have yet to visit!

I'm partial to Luxembourg city, having lived there, but I've never been to a European city I didn't like.
