A fair idea if you can make it work. You may still have to pay for travel expenses or shipping costs however you get the LEGOs to each person.

As a small-time "profit-maker"* on bricklink, half my creations would not exist without the earnings I made there. (* = all "profits" have been spent on more LEGO).

Also note that since the in-store LEGO pick-a-brick is basically priced by volume and not by weight or rarity, sometimes bricklink can actually be cheaper.

For those who haven't been following my "World Financial Center, NYC LEGO Model" thread, here's what I've been up to since July.

The World Financial Center, New York City.

It was great getting to meet you at the KLUG show today! You should definitely come to Brickworld. It's basically today's show times 100!

Looks great ...just awesome! Thought about mini yachts in the harbor to add some realism?

WORLD TRADE CENTER and Battery Park City

...or you trying to go purist?

I originally though of adding a yacht or two, but after thinking about it, I concluded that would basically be like putting cars on the streets in all my models. I feel that it would kind of take away from the neatness and uniformity of the model. My models are more about the permanent architectural aspects rather than the mobile and constantly changing vehicles.

RJB: Nice to see your WFC model completed. Very impressive. As previously mentioned it looks much better to see it in physical LEGO form rather than as a LDD file. After this year's Brickworld, why don't you and Spencer just divy up lower Manhattan for next year!

Ah, but that would require a bigger overall venue for Brickworld in 2013... Which I'm not gonna say that there will be, but I'm not gonna say that there won't be.

I get it, you're giving us a preview of your next model, the Ostankino Tower in Moscow.

In all seriousness though, that's a good LEGO representation of a bad real-life design

I figure this is a multi-thread topic.

Spencer and I combined each other's World Trade Center and World Financial Center models together at Brickworld Chicago this past weekend.

For more pictures click here.

This collaborative display has been ten months in the making and has been a process I'm sure Spencer has enjoyed as much as I have.

What scale are you attempting to build it in?

I'm not familiar with that building, but I found a picture. That's going to be difficult. My first thought would be to try something with wedge plates.

thank you for the help and keep up the good work with Rocco. I thought it would be cool if you could make your models light up and make the wires and lights not be seen in the day time, that would bring the buildings to lifeIt just a suggestion.
