To each their own, but my perspective means this is happy news, as I've been waiting for something to be built on that block for 40 years. I'd be happy with a quality building of 15 stories. I'm thrilled with a building 38 feet taller than Fox Tower.

I like the shape of this concept. Different and full of potential. Good start. Look forward to the renderings.

The shape and size of the building is fine, the biggest flaw I see is the placement of the tower. It will put the terrace side of the building in the shadows for much of the year, though I get the trade off is to allow more sunlight to O'Bryant Park...so it is hard to say which is the better option because I see the pros and cons to both. I do hope we get to see O'Bryant redeveloped into a food cart park that gives a permanent home to food carts downtown.

Yes, indeed! This is going to be a fine building. Taller would be welcome.

From the shadow studies, seems like placing the terraces on the east side and the tower on the west side would reduce the shadow on Bryant Park.

Sixth tallest? The skyline is so sparse that I'll take what we can get.

The Oregonian article mentions the building will be 424' tall, surpassing PacWest.

With this tower, the Twelve East or whatever it is called, the hotel on the small food cart lot, and if tall residential towers ever happen on the surface lot at 10th and Oak and the Supplements store across the street. That part of downtown is going to change drastically in the coming years.

The Nines Hotel has a "5 Star " rating on their website.....http://www.guestreservations.com/the...SAAEgLX1_D_BwE
Wouldn't this be the 2nd?

Perhaps they meant an international 5-Star chain.

The problem with the Nines rating is lack of a full service spa.

Wow. It would cost more than $7.5 million for this project to include affordable units?
