To each their own, but my perspective means this is happy news, as I've been waiting for something to be built on that block for 40 years. I'd be happy with a quality building of 15 stories. I'm thrilled with a building 38 feet taller than Fox Tower.

The shape and size of the building is fine, the biggest flaw I see is the placement of the tower. It will put the terrace side of the building in the shadows for much of the year, though I get the trade off is to allow more sunlight to O'Bryant Park...so it is hard to say which is the better option because I see the pros and cons to both. I do hope we get to see O'Bryant redeveloped into a food cart park that gives a permanent home to food carts downtown.

Yes, indeed! This is going to be a fine building. Taller would be welcome.

From the shadow studies, seems like placing the terraces on the east side and the tower on the west side would reduce the shadow on Bryant Park.

With this tower, the Twelve East or whatever it is called, the hotel on the small food cart lot, and if tall residential towers ever happen on the surface lot at 10th and Oak and the Supplements store across the street. That part of downtown is going to change drastically in the coming years.
