Nelson on the Park | Concept/Proposal

Came across this by accident on the World Architecture Festival website and whoa! very impressive. is that height achievable there? architects are IBI, Nick Milkovich and Chris Doray.

It's shortlisted (along with Vancouver House) for best future residential project.

The West End Plan allows for 550 ft. in height.

This one should be coming through in the fall as a formal rezoning application.

In the first photo, what is the building with the slight curves to the right? At first I thought that was a photo of Beijing's CBD as that tower looks similar to China's World Trade Centre Tower

That would be another future tower further East on the block by Westbank (same height); though I'm unsure if there is actually a concept for that one or if the shape is simply a placeholder...

Here's the site :

A couple of 1950's walk-ups and the Hobbit House, Washington Court looks like it's staying.

Its certainly not "on the park" though it would create some horrendous shading on it.

A friend lives in one of those buildings on that site and all the rents are ending in December!!! Looks like they will be clearing them down shortly afterwards. Like old like the tenants knew already these building were getting demolished

This building would only cast a shadow over the park before 10am. Nothing to worry about but this and the neighbouring tower will certainly block lots of views from Patina building.

This building would cast minimal shading on the park!

You guys are pretty optimistic. Wait until the West End NIMBYs get wind of this.

I'm excited for the lighting feature at the top. None of Vancouver's taller buildings (besides shaw) really have an iconic lighting feature (hopefully that changes with trump)

How are they going to prevent green gunk from growing all over that top mesh?
