another generic vancouver building. good massing, height and street treatment, but just generic. where's the rebellion brewing among neighborhood types that hate the way the newer city looks, recent grad architects and planners who consider the past 20 years to be nearly as bad as the béton brut years, even just business owners who want to break with form?
The project has been revised a 3rd time and probably the last time.

a reduction in floor area of ground floor retail from 14,558.6 sq. ft. to 14,510.67 sq. ft.
an increase in floor area of amenity space from 1,089.9 sq. ft. to 1,212.6 sq. ft.
a reduction of 73 parking stalls to 60 stalls
an increase from 186 bicycle stalls to 199
The report going before City Council shows the protruding rectangular element facing Main St. to be framed in red (like the north side of the podium facing Keefer) - so that adds a bit of colour.
The activists managed to prevent major further developments from the west (stopping at the Woodwards), so it is nice to see development coming from the south. Hopefully we'll get more from the east.
I believe market pressures in 2014 will see renewed development from the west and we'll see a "Gastown Phase 2".
Bank of Montreal fit out is fully underway in 188 no less. they already took 'possession' of their space for fit out purposes I have been told. Will be a nice step up as the current BoM Chinatown location is less than stellar. I wonder who will pull the trigger on a new space next door .. Scotia Perhaps? again another sub par space in Chinatown for them Or Vancity?
