What is the hold up with installing the crown? It seems to be taking forever.

Don't worry guys. Phillys tower's spire has been taking a long time too. Were all in the same boat.

I don't think they will install the crown until the curtain wall is up to the top. April.

As I stated earlier, the crown is most likely part of the curtainwall package and will not be installed until the curtainwall gets to that point.

It seems as if there is now some sort of lighting in place for the crown. It seems like every time we question where certain features of the building are, it appears on the cam!

My guess is it's one of three things:

1) The base of the FULA spire;
2) Part of the structure of the crown; or
3) The base of a smaller tower crane.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's #3. There are no more hard anchor points for the tower cranes along the periphery of the building. I don't know how high they can safely be stacked above the final anchor, but it seems like they may need more sections to complete the crown. Philly's CTC has these internal cranes, so it's not out of the question.

If they just keep the cranes where they are now and count that as a spire, we'll have passed up LA.

My guess is that it's a crane, because, I don't see anything in the application which shows such a structure.

While I can't offer any additional clues as to what the new construction is on the roof:

I can produce a nice picture of the installation of the cooling towers on the roof over the weekend. They are massive!

And is this model indicative of something we don't know regarding the crown lighting scheme and giant electrical socket cap?

Soon it may not just be the Salesforce Tower but the Salesforce Center:

The top of Saleforce Tower may still be unconfirmed to us but, also notice that it is the first time we have seen Parcel F included in a model.

The model makes me sad that 535 Mission was so stubby. I dislike city vs city competitiveness over height but I do care about the city form and my own city "being all it can be". A taller building using the same general design, which I like, at that location would have balanced the tall buildings at 181 Fremont and Parcel F while just looking better on its own.

I have long thought that--it's a fine building that's too stubby. 560 Mission should have been taller also, along with 101 California and others.

Do they really need to put their name on everything? A supertall named after them, right next door, isn't enough?

Agreed. So many missed opportunities because of the city's height limits.

I'm hoping the TransBay governing body is scrounging for funds to do Phase II because I cringe at the idea we built a 10-figure bus station.
