Is this purposely supposed to mimic the original twin towers? Awfully close roof height from those angles, and one tower with a spire/antenna. Beautiful buildings though.

It's not intentional, but you will get that effect with towers of similar height so close together, particularly in this case with the flat tops.

That video's angle was from the towers best angle, and it still doesn't look like anything special. not to mention the otherside, which i just don't think I would ever come around to.

Hard to tell, but the model looks slightly different...

The setbacks are definitely toned down a bit. The older one looks like some drunk with delirium tremens was playing Jenga.

The side, with the monolithic wall with no set backs is the closest reminder to feel of the original twins.

Although I may be in the minority here but I really like this building. Every angle that you look at it from is completely different. I think it would be a great addition to the NYC skyline.

Its a nice building, but in my opinion it doesn't contrast well with WT1 which is such a different shape.

I think that's just the angle of the photo.

It will be great to get this up. Only then will the WTC have the presence and feel of the original complex.

I think this looks a hell of a lot better with the less noticeable setbacks, but it's still not great. I still think Foster's design was the best, but too late for that now, I guess.

It's the same. The angle of the photos can be misleading. But if that's the perception you get from the model, you'll probably get it from the real thing.

But the setbacks aren't as great as it would seem...

nice to see these new tightened up renders.

is it....skinnier??

i have come to like it.

its something a bit different.

also, it somewhat refers to the old wtc, on the flat side i think, which is nice.

At this point I just want to see it built as soon as possible. Though I still don't love the design, the skyline needs this one for the WTC complex to have maximum impact. Few had any real love for the original pair as pure architecture but it's the loss in the skyline both physically and symbolically that was most visceral and needs to be as fully remedied as possible, even with the Ingels re-design.

it's really crowding 1WTC, which IMO has more elegance if there's room around it

First thing that came to mind was it's resemblance to the old twins.
