Ackerman & Co. is exploring options for a 12.5-acre site along the Westside Trail, which sits near the Lee + White development in West End. The more than 200,000-square-foot building was most recently used as a production studio for Sony Entertainment.
Ackerman is beginning the rezoning process for 1200 White St. The Atlanta firm acquired the property in late 2021 for $24 million.
“We are exploring a whole variety of options,” Evan Ziegler, Ackerman’s president of investments, told the Chronicle in an interview.
^This is the building where there's currently a "gap" in the Beltline, correct? If so, I hope this means they can complete the trail through this section rather than requiring the diversion up onto Lawton street and then down White street.
Office buildings in Atlanta have insane parking ratios. Some of the newer office buildings in Midtown literally have 1,000+ space parking decks. City council got rid of parking minimums in some areas, but needs to have more strict parking maximums. I do realize that some areas (like West Midtown where 1050 Brickworks is located) are more car-dependent.
On the flip side, I'm really impressed with the student housing towers. For example the Whistler has something like 560 beds and 20 parking spaces.
