Pretty cool, I hope is visible from a lot of different angles
My observation has been that the top section of the vertical is just there to allow the crane and whatever it's carrying to move around. I'm guessing A/C units and other mechanical things will go on top of the cantilever. I certainly don't want to see them when I'm sitting in the Living Room, sipping my Starbucks.

Here is the view of the crane from the 3rd floor of the Maritime Centre. Sorry for the window glare and cell phone quality.

That's an interesting view.

Apparently the crane was brought in from the US and can lift more than any of the local cranes.

I haven't been able to find elevations for the library but as mentioned it looks like the floors will be taller than a standard office or residential floor. In the model pictures the library looks like it is approximately the same height as Cornwallis House, which is 7 storeys.

I did think the crane looked a bit more heavy duty then the average crane in Halifax. That boom is really long!

Thanks for all the photo updates on this one. When I was driving across the MacKay Bridge yesterday I must have caught the angle of the crane boom just right. From my point of view it looked like the boom was as long as the distance across Citidel Hill.

No question the cranes boom is larger than most. It sure seemed like it would be able to reach up Queen and Doyle St. without any difficulty.

Even though this thread is relating to the library -- I need to comment on just how cool it is to see City Centre Atlantic fill-in from this view!

Great updates. Looking forward to seeing the cladding on the CCA addition.

Still no renderings for Clyde Street, sadly.
