Renderings of new Vikings Stadium

Some stats, according to HKS Architects:

Largest ETFE roof in the world. It will be supported by a single, massive truss.

Largest pivoting glass doors in the world.

Most advanced, sustainable stadium in the world.

Will be able to accommodate any existing sports (football, soccer, baseball, hockey, NBA).

Direct entrance from the plaza to the main concourse. 1st unobstructed upper concourse in the NFL.

Connected directly into the existing Minneapolis skyway system.

Isn't Ryan Co's. supposed to put out some plans for the 5-block area around the new stadium?

I like it. It's a refreshing break from the stainless steel bubbles we've seen as of late. Not to mention I love all the glass. Hopefully that solid material is some beautiful masonry or something

It looks like a cubist Noah's Ark.

An indoor stadium would be the way to go. Yes, there aren't going to be any cold weather games in December like in the old days. At the same time, it would be used year round as opposed to an open-air stadium. It would attract a Super Bowl and March Madness. Baseball would be played there for local high school and college teams. For financial reasons, an indoor stadium is the way to go.

It sort of reminds me of a megachurch, and in a way, I guess it is...

It does. Probably because I recall seeing this church as a kid all angular that looks eerily similar.

I like it, but is a little too oversized for my tastes. Then again, being a sports stadium I guess it'd look weird if it was too small. It is very pretty though.

Also, fly through video anyone?

The final design of the new Vikings stadium has been published. A bit more glass on the west elevation and the addition of another MediaMesh on the east elevation.
