These are just a few blocks that I created for a community sketchup city on SSC. I've decided to maybe use the same map (only a small part of it) and develop it myself since I really like this particular area and am happy with what I've created already.
Here are a few pictures. As you can see I'm going for a New York kind of style with buildings right up to the edge of the street.
That huge tower is supposed to be a luxury residential tower with a hotel at the bottom and uses the same structural system as the SOM proposals for the Transbay tower and Shanghai Tower. The idea is a similar one to the Chicago Spire.
The time that this city is set in is around 2015 so, as with that big tower, I'm going to steal some ideas from proposals which haven't been built yet.
I don't know if I'll finish this but I'll tip away at it bit by bit anyway. I might write some history eventually as well.
It is very interesting! Yes it is similar to the Chicago Spire, but it is different in it's way, Its like a mix between that Russian tower and the Chicago Spire. Keep up the good work!
Thanks, they're basically stolen from the sketchup warehouse.
I just use them but make my own shaped buildings, position the testures, etc.
But they're not difficult to make once you have a few good pictures of a tower.
This city really is a mix of different buildings and styles with low-rises and supertalls happily next to each other. My favorite building is the one with the textures from that moder Irish building and the second to last shot shows it off really well. It's a great shot altogether.
I'd stick to one style of architecture from now on, spread it out and then advance the eras from then on. Leave blanks for parks and special projects and I'm sure it'd be developed well. Really nice work. It looks like you took the twist out of the Chicago Spire on your tallest tower. Really nice detail though.

I would like to start by building a city set in something like 1900 and then developing year by year with new buildings that get built, knocked down, etc. The only thing is I don't think I'd have the patience. I also prefer building it plot by plot since I can see results straight away and so, am less likely to lose the motivation.
In what I have here I would like to have a park in the areas between the shore and the buildings. Sort of seaside type parks. I would also like to have a park in the middle of the peninsula, which will take up 4 plots I think.
I would like to build a huge 1920s/30s tower, up to 400m to roof and I would like to get some ideas. Does anyone know a good resource of proposals or artwork for this kind of thing? I know of the Met Life North Building but is there anything else which is good?

I am really liken your city. It has very good buildings and I like your architecture.
I wouldn't do only one architectural design becasue more than 1 architectural makes a city interesting.
I also don't think there are really any proposals that supports 400m 1920's buildings.
Just one new tower for the moment. Around 290m with the spire.
