C'mon Rangers, I might win my hockey pool if they beat the Devils.

Great series by LA, completely dominant. Whoever comes over from the east is in for a hell of a finals.

A little bit off topic but so glad Spacek told the truth.

The organization was in the dark the last couple of years. … It was only Pierre’s way. He never asked anybody else, probably. He set up the strict rules we all had to follow.
about Jacques Martin

Quote:
I think we played too much of a defensive system, I didn’t like that. I think it was even boring to watch us, to be honest. To be very honest. Come on, at home, we play like this? I think it was boring a little bit. At the end of the night, if you win 2-1, nobody cares. It’s a win. But there weren’t too many games that we win 5-2, 6-4, wide-open games in which you just had fun. There weren’t too many like that.

The run we had in my first year here (2009-10) was very satisfying, even though I was injured a little bit… it wasn’t so much the coaching as the players all coming together.
Quote:
I didn’t mind Jacques. But today you see young coaches trying to change systems, trying to adjust to other teams. We never did that. No 2-1-2 (formation). With the talent we had, we should have been aggressive. We never did that. It was chip and chase. Now everybody’s going after Gomer. Cammy didn’t like it, either. Those guys have to play with the puck.

It was like watching my (9-year-old) kid, firing the puck along the boards and chasing it. We didn’t have strong forwards to run somebody over. We should have played with the puck and made the plays. If we chip it around the goal, do you think Gio’s going to win the battles against Chara?

Lol. Rosival's leg was out 3x as far as Brown's. Brown was going for a shoulder-to-chest hit (and did). There's no way it was anything but accidental.

Seriously? He's comparing one of the dirtiest hits in the NHL ever, to a minor penalty at most.
Did Phoenix not see the three terrible calls that went there way in OT alone? What should have been 2 for holding the stick ended up as 2 for Doughty, then the questionable offside, then buddy fucking takes a seat on Penner while the puck slowly slides through the mid-slot; Penner could have ended it right there (before Brown's hit) had he been able to get up.

So glad LA won, despite the refs' best efforts to extend the series.

Brown did not make any efforts to get out of the way and minimize the impact. Not saying it's a suspension but that's a penalty for sure.

Why the hell would/should he have? He was already leaning into the hit when the whistle blew. IMO there's nobody to blame here but Rosival, who not only put everyone offside, but put himself in a dangerous position.

Uh, it wasn't even top 10 this decade. Only reason it got that many games is because Raffi is a repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat offender.

Marian needs to remember what I was taught my very first year of hitting... Keep you fucking head up.

The NHL will have to start putting these on jerseys:

I can hear the PA announcement

'Los Angeles penalty to Dustin Brown two minutes for...... not getting out of the way'

Considering Calgary and Edmonton squeaked in and made runs...almost winning..against strong eastern teams - in fact Calgary did win it - don't be too surprised if they are. When Calgary barely lost out to Tampa, Tampa was by far the hottest team in the league second half of 2004 season.

How long have you been following hockey? You should know by now that strength of the conference means absolutely nothing at this time of year.

Kings-Devils in the finals. A 8th seed vs a 6th seed, that will be interesting. No team seeded 5 or higher has ever won the Cup.

I say Devils in 6!

BTW-Kovalchuk now leads the playoffs with 18 pts... what a beast! He's also been solid defensively. The Kings will have to have an answer to him if they want to have a chance to win the Cup.

Kings in 6. And maybe 5, if Quick can pull together a shutout or two. The east was incredibly weak this year and it showed.

We now know our next victim!

If the Kings can steal game 1 once again, this could be a quick one, pun intended

Kovalchuk alone is probably a bigger offensive threat than LA's previous opponents combined.

Anxious and nervous at the same time. You never know what a seasoned vet like Brodeur can do, but the good thing is that he lets the other team back into games. Fall behind 2 goals to Lundqvist, and the game is over. With Brodeur, you still have a shot.

Yeah, subtle English nuance there.

"seeded 5 or lower" is how most of us would say it - we think (and speak) positionally. But technically, "seeded 5 or higher" is literally correct (numerically) even though it sounds strange on the surface.
