Great pics! I noticed they cut two holes into the facade of the Ashbel-Smith Hall that's being prepped for demo.

Woha

Skyscraper fans should check out the WOHA exhibit at the library. Not the best urbanism, and the lush tropical climate of Singapore does not directly translate to Austin, but it is pretty inspiring. I believe it closes at the end of the month.

They filmed an episode of a tv show in the house across the street from us. It's the American version of a Norwegian teen drama called "SKAM". It's been neat watching them set up with all the film trucks and everything. This is actually the 2nd time in 2 years that a house in our neighborhood has been used to film something. They said they picked our neighbor's house because there's a garage in the backyard that's visible from the street and part of the plot apparently included the son playing in a garage band.

You could say so. Actually would have been fairly easy to know what has been happening wherever you were at.

I feel ya. I think some of that has to do with a pause in construction during SXSW plus not a ton of updates on projects. And we have lost (hopefully temporarily) one of our most active forumers which helped keep the forum busy. He's doing okay by the way.

Its been quite over the past few wks, and sadly General hasn't return. If any of you guys have him on social media tell him to come back. The Austin forum hasn't been the same.

There's been a hostile takeover of shaggytexas.com. The community is going to move over to a new site within a week.

My Downtown Projects thread will have to get restarted. Ugh. 2,758 replies and 143,000+ views.

Are the new owners closing your thread?

No, but we are never posting there again out of principle. It'll be a ghost town soon enough.

The owner was sued out of spite by a multi-millionaire from Houston. He lost. This other guy now owns the site. We're not sure if he thinks he can use it to generate funds from advertisers or if he just plans on pulling the plug. No matter. We've moved on.

Ha. That plate was available several years ago when I last ordered personalized plates. I ended up getting plates with "ATX" as part of plate number, but not that one.

I would love to see Austin get a proposal like this. This would be the tallest building to go up in Minneapolis since 1992.

Wow yes. I love RASMA buildings - our downtown could use one or two to break up the blue glass trend!

I would love to see a building like that rise in the northwest corner of downtown, say north of 8th Street. I also wish we could get a few more buildings that are a nod to older styles around the northern stretch of Congress. Anyway, a building like that one in Minneapolis just screams to be looking out over a park or else lower density areas between downtown and West Campus.
