Shuttle Bus to Gatineau Park/Calypso

Wondering if it would be a good idea for OC Transpo to offer shuttle services to surrounding attractions in the city. Gatineau Park and Calypso Water Park seems like good places to start. You'd get decent ridership, and this would also boost tourism, while allowing tourists to not require car rentals.

i'd imagine that the STO would be better for gatineau park, and they already do a shuttle for the fall (which you can get onto in downtown ottawa).

Too bad Calypso was built so far away.
Amazon's new warehouse also needed a wide space, yet they build it twice closer to Ottawa.

Calypso's location was deliberate in order to serve both the Ottawa and Montréal CMAs.

Exactly. I have talked to people in Montreal who go to Calypso.

A shuttle to Calypso would only work if Calypso agreed to subsidize it. It would make much more sense to have a shuttle to Alottawata once it opens, as it will be within city limits.

And possibly Cornwall too? The location doesn’t seem too far from Highway 138.

This is really utilizing the advantage of Highway 417 to the full.

Will Alottawata (great name BTW) ever get off the ground? It seems like they've been talking about it for 10 years and it always gets delayed.

But sure, it would make way more sense for OC Transpo to serve a park that's within the city limits, as opposed to one that's quite far outside the city limits.

BTW I am pretty sure Calypso already runs a shuttle bus service for its (mostly teenaged) employees. Mont-Cascades AFAIK does the same for the kids that work there who live in Gatineau. We were actually discussing the latter over the weekend with my kids and some friends, as part of a chat on summer jobs.

Cornwall has a 1/20th the population of Ottawa and about 1/70th the population of Montreal. I can't imagine it was a factor in any decision about location.
