I'm not really a fan, but there's a Chachi's at 5th Ave Place. No soups, at least not at their website.

I've heard good things about Olly Fresco's and there's one in the same general vicinity- 250 5th Ave SW, not sure what building that is.

I went to Foreign Concept last night, a nice dimly lit asian fusion cuisine that was kind of pricey but the menu items were surely interesting. Been out for only a few weeks and already getting rave reviews, as for me I give it 80%, I felt the food was alright to good probably because of the experimental nature and I'm not sure if everything they claim in their dishes really worked to the effect of its purpose.

But I digress, they have happy hr menus and lunch menus that are slightly cheaper so I will return for another go someday. Washrooms were individual unisex closets that doesn't lock so people will tell by the door being closed and lights being on that the stall is occupied. A big trust factor being bet upon that the clientele is sophisticated enough to see those kinds of cues.

Foreign Concept is by Cafe Koi and takes the old spot of the vicious circle on 1st and 11ave across the street from the Mac's..

The Butcher and Baker inside Bow Valley Square makes a solid sandwich as well, more of a higher end offering though

Its been closed for a year now. I'm expecting it to turn into a Carls Jr like pretty much every other one in the city has, but its taking a while. Maybe there are some significant issues inside, I'd wonder maybe something related to flood damage that hadn't been noticed until they started ripping things apart.

Have they even started ripping things apart in there? I haven't been by for a while but last time I drove by all tables and chairs were still in place.

What I didn't like about Jerusalem was the double wrap and platters with no labneh or kibbeh. That said, I last ate there last September so maybe things have changed.

Places I remember with memorably good better Shawarma:

NW - Empire
NE - Fusion
DT - Shawarma House
S - Aladdin, though I haven't eaten there for about 4 years. Best labneh west of Ottawa though as they serve it with oil and oregano, but not basil!

FTR, I was excited when they opened as I lived about a 10 minute walk away. In the end, we still kept going to Cedars for a local fix.

The location he was showing in the Herald was the old gas station site in East Village across from N3. I think this would be a great location given the events that the New Central Library and the National Music Centre will hold.

Loved the food truck 'pods' in Portland, there's a number of parking lots where the trucks are parked all summer (or all year?) like this

Awesome idea. As someone mentioned, food truck pods in Portland are a joy to visit and explore.

Has potential to be a great tourist destination for foodies.

Anyone been to the Still (former Loungeburger)? Went there before the game last night and it seemed decent. I ordered the Prime Rib which was pretty good, nothing to get excited about, but at $22 for a good size meal, I can't complain.

We used to have this great little poutine shack in Airdrie. The woman operating it was from Gaspé and every time we went there it was packed with French people. Unfortunately her husband found a better job back home and they left though. Really miss my poutine and hot dog for lunch there.

We also have Food truck days which I have never attended but they use the central arena parking lot here during the summer.
