BART workers get ridership bonus, even with fewer passengers

They already used part of the money from the last bond issue voters passed, intending it for capital projects, for pay and operating costs.

Less than three months after voters passed a $3.5 billion BART bond for capital projects, transit officials presented budget forecasts in which the district reneges on its part of the deal.

This is exactly what we predicted would happen: Bond money from Measure RR would go into the pot of capital project funds. But fare increase money would then be pulled out of that pot starting in fiscal year 2023 and redirected to cover the district’s excessive salary and benefit costs . . . .

pretty soon we may have a clearer view of what's going on at this site in the Salesforce and Park Tower webcams, as it rises into view

Thank you for the pictures, Dwils and timbad!

Also, I didn't have time to snap a picture, but glass is going up on the north side. I could see it from the Fremont offramp.

No. The rough rule of thumb seems to be about 10 ft/floor for residential buildings and 13 (or so) for commercial ones (more recently because of addiitional space in ceilings and under floors for passive HVAC systems and IT networking). At 56 floors, 575 ft is just about right (with a mechanical penthouse on top and probably a first commercial floor that is more than the building average) for this one. What is a bit surprising is how few floors the Salesforce has: It has almost 18 ft per floor.

Yeah, the floor structure is very thin, makes sense...

The first OMA tower on the West Coast is rising in SF at First and Folsom -- but at 550
feet, it has a long way to go
I didn't realize it was OMA's first tower on the West Coast.

Core Soon to Break the Skyline in My View in the Civic Center

Today I can see what I think is the cement/pump/crane (visible below the red crane) atop the concrete core. I anticipate I will see the concrete core in a couple of weeks or so from my apartment.
