But wait there's more:

And they've dug down at least one floor already:

Quality hams and bacon? The sign makes me hungry.

I guess you can see a trifle more of how they have dig down here.

The L shaped part behind the Sherwood company building:

It really is an awkward lot; one wonders why whomever owners the Sherwood company building now wouldn't sell.

So, if they are excavating, is it time to move this to the "under construction" area??

Apparently the Sherwood sign was painted without any (one-story) structure on the "One Hawthorne" site.

It also looks look graffiti artists have been able to get under the sidewalk space.

Don't they have to start piles or caissons to officially be under construction on SSP?

I noticed that too, and it made me wonder if they had gotten in there before the building came down, or did that after. It looks like it may have been there awhile.

The graffiti and the Sherwood sign stir my imagination, but in different ways. Also notice that certain structural tie points have been recently identified and highlighted by light magenta paint on the Sherwood wall.

The west (middle) and north (right) elevations from EHDD look different from the 3D rendering (left image). Excavation for "three floors of below-grade parking" will be needed before structural foundation work begins. Judging from the renderings, I suspect the total height is somewhere greater than 240'.

It would appear they don't plan to fill the footprint in the notch behind the Sherwood building. I wonder why.

Actually, I think they are. That portion of the building just isn't colored in the north elevation. It is faded into the background.

So I guess they're not going to cantilever that wing of the building out over the lot. Your explanation makes a lot more sense.

The building on the left is marked 215. Next to that is the brick building I mentioned. You can see the green covering and scaffolding on the right side of it. It is being remodeled inside. To the right of that is the Cnet building, which is 235. So 219 either has to be an alternative number for 215 or the brick building. If one of them is going to be torn down someday, I sure hope it's the one on the left.
Today, I noticed that they've added a street number to the brick building: 217. So now I'm even more confused. Maybe it used to be 219 and they re-numbered it.

There's nothing new to see on this site. They're digging down on the eastern half of the lot and piling it up on the western half. But as of Tuesday they hadn't yet started hauling away large amounts of dirt.

Time for this one to move to the U/C forum:

Pile driving underway, note the steel piled up at right:

^^^Wow. I hope they are digging deeper than that for a 24-story building. That steel is probably shoring for the foundation perimeter.

I think you're right BT. I assume there will be underground parking here. Either way, I have to think there will be some kind of basement level for this building.

Just in case you missed it, read the last sentence of the EHDD insert of my post #68 above.

Thanks SFView. I was pretty sure I had read that somewhere, but didn't have a chance to check back through the thread, other than the first post.

I took a closer look today and am convinced they are installing bracing for the perimeter. You can see where they've laid out the line where they will be installed along Hawthorne and those metal rods don't look long enough to be piles. I'll post a pic when I get home.
