Another Headquarters moving to SA - Operation Homefront

Thursday, June 26, 2008 - 11:44 AM CDT
Operation Homefront opens headquarters in San AntonioSan Antonio Business Journal - by Yvonne Freckmann

Operation Homefront has relocated its national headquarters to San Antonio from Santa Ana, Calif.

The national nonprofit organization, funded through individual and business donations, and some grants, operates on a budget of about $14 million. Through its 31 state chapters, the organization provides services to more than 40,000 military members and their families.

Services include counseling, auto and home appliance repair, food and financial assistance. Aid is also available through programs such as eCarePackage.org, O.H. Village and CinCHouse.com.

Operation Homefront began in 2001 in response to the need for support for the families of deployed service members.

Its new headquarters are located at 8930 Fourwinds Drive, Suite 340, just northeast of Loop 410 and Interstate Highway 35.

Dang...

As I mentioned in the other thread, the timing of the AT&T HQ move is ironic...given the slew of great news as this, recently.

Just be glad you have a company moving to San Antonio , and hope Valero doesn't leave, Tesoro doesn't get bought out, and USAA doesn't move.

It's doubtful USAA or Valero will leave. Both are home grown companies with very strong ties to SA. We can only keep our fingers crossed Tesoro is not bought out. I think they will do everything in their power to keep it from happening; it doesn't look so good for Anheuser-Busch, so who can tell. It's really just the way the game is played, especially in down cycles.

San Antonio has quite a few HQ moving into town now and should step up recruitment of others. BRAC and NSA will help.

It would be good if San Antonio would start ranking as a top city for college graduates (right now it isn't). Houston, DFW, and Austin (in that order) made the top three in a recent list by Forbes (two days ago). With these companies relocating to SA, it should help.

Your username is kind of self-explanatory so I thought I'd ask you a question, why the heck do you still live here? San Antonio is undergoing a positive transformation from provincial outpost to modern metropolis with job growth, improving infrastructure, population growth and other important changes taking place. How can you be against any of this? If you don't like the direction San Antonio is taking why don't you move to Cotulla where big time growth isn't an issue. You'd probably be much happier there.

I must have missed that discussion. At any rate that's my two cents worth on the person's username.

Do any of the CEO's for those companies live in Dallas?

If not, I think they'll be ok.
