Nevermind the 15 years and hundreds of hours I have put into the Montreal database. I can't have concerns with a tower in Montreal or continue a conservation beacause my location says Toronto? This isn't kindergarten. YC is an eyesore. I'm not going to be offended by , "an outsider" , calling it an eyesore. I don't think anyone that cares about design will be offended. Maybe some heighter will step in but, that really doesn't have anything to do with city patriotism either.

You let yourself get fooled by city pride. Step up and just say you acted like an idiot.

Very few here are optimistic about future towers... Opinions are made with towers 1/3 built or less. Yes they may turn out crappy, but maybe they'll look good at the end, we don't really know this early on. I'd prefer optimism rather than pessimism...

There more than enough to visualize how YC will turn out. The cladding has been used before. The architectural theme has been used before. Of course, not everyone will agree that the execution is piss poor and the black and white colour blocking theme is taudry so ,yeah, not everyone will see this as a giant eyesore (it truly will be).

Have you seen the window wall ? (just curious ... not to cause any confusion)

I understand that a lot of you think YC will turn out horrible. I'm just hoping some might relax their expectations a little bit until the tower is mostly complete.. and no, I haven't yet seen it in person, just pix so far...

TDC2 is being build in a no man's land, it will be very thin and cover with better glass and without being wrap with balconies. We'll see.

I think you misinterpreted his comment as being sarcastic. I think he was genuinely implying that he hopes TDC2 doesn't turn out badly given that it's the same (notoriously crappy) developer as YC, which he agrees is turning out badly.

I wonder why some of the posters here(from the 'big city) doesn't take criticisms very well. If your opinion is against their beloved city, they will bash your idea or even the city that you support. The fantards of the Great Lakes hahahahahahahahaha

Yeah, moron, it is my opinion and I haven't expressed it as anything but an opinion. Stop being so pigheaded and interpret things that simply aren't there.

You may want to read a few posts; get the gist of the conversation less sound like a fool. No one from any of the big cities on any of the Great Lakes has overreacted with city patriotism. The majority of the conservation has even been between forumers of that one big Great Lake city that do not see eye to eye on the evidence available to formulate an opinion on the half built YC and probably still won't agree after YC is built.

Also, city boosterism goes from coast to coast, and isn't confined to any particular city...

Maybe YC will end up getting a nickname, like "The Monstrosity" or something like that... most cities have an ugly duckling kind of building, perhaps this will be Toronto's?

Commenting on it now before it even gets it's outer shell is like looking at a house under construction with only the windows installed with the insulation still showing. A little premature to make a final judgment on.

I'll admit my review of YC was harsh for how early it is in construction....but I feel like there should be expectations for this building...seeing as it's in a pretty key area of the city. (Next to the subway, College Park, loads of local restaurants and shops, a well used streetcar line)

Onto the actual construction of the project....I'm very curious how the north and east side of the podium will look, I'm highly intrigued by what the podium could bring to integrate itself into the existing urban fabric. I think the overall tower cladding is okay...towards the north section..but I can't judge the project much at all this early in.
