Well thanks for liking the pics. Kolkata isn't exactly a beautiful city. It's a big city, with huge ghetto like sections (but not necessarily crime infested) as well as some nice areas. But a majority of people are nice irrespective of status. That's what makes a city after all.

And as for crowds that Metro is relatively empty..

Look at the crowds in the suburban rail system

Another famous temple landmark - the Dakhineswar Kali Temple (1847) - is representative of the Bengal temple architecture. It is in the northern suburb called Dakhneswar. The temple has played an important role in the history of Kolkata which btw is a pretty "young" city by Indian standards.

And across the Hoooghly river is Belur Math - the headquarters of Ramakrishna Mission founded by Swami Vivekananda. This place is beautiful in an utterly congested place. Belur Math has temples, parks and a couple of educational institutions. The Ramakrishna Mission is famous for its religious, cultural, educational and charitable work all over India.

No superpower. First aim should be to ensure that every one gets enough food, clothes and has a proper house.

Wish all city footpaths were like this and not taken over by encroachers with political backing and police bribing.
