Residents most likely to display their provincial flag

They fly a flag. Often the Canadian one (it's Irving FFS we can't control that lol).

RE: municipal and provincial buildings... They all display the Canada, Union, and provincial flag. Minimum. City of St. John's, for example, displays those and the flags of every province and territory.

Cupid NL has, I think officially, the world's largest Union flag.

That'd be interesting if they did! I don't recall seeing any, but then my experience in the maritimes is limited (cutting through the NW corner on NB on the way to my mom's hometown).

Irving stations always fly the biggest QC flags in Quebec. They're not as over-the-top in the Maritimes but typically fly provincial flags.

I've travelled to all provinces and I'm pretty confident that Newfoundland and Labrador is where you most frequently see a provincial flag on residences.

Yes, that is often the case for the big Irving stations in the Atlantic provinces and Quebec.

I just did a quick search and it seems like Irving has changed most of its huge flags to Canadian ones in all provinces except Quebec. (I was in the Maritimes not that long ago but admit that I hadn't really noticed.)

I know for sure they used to have huge provincial flags other than in Quebec, because I remember clearly thinking at one point some years ago: "Holy cow, I've never seen an NB/PEI flag that big before".

Irving also seems to be moving to a new station design, and it's one that doesn't have a flag pole on top of the roof that shelters the pumps.

They still fly smaller provincial flags, particularly in NB.

You almost never see the Manitoban flag. Probably too close to Ontario's.

If you go to a Jets game there are quite a few people with the Nunavut flag.

Manitoba needs a new flag. Apart from looking just like Ontario's, it has a pretty lame history... it was conjured up in the 60s when some people were pissed off about the fact that the Red Ensign was being replaced by the Maple Leaf nationally.

We need something more emblematic of Manitoba... I bet you'd see it used more often if that happened.

The Winnipeg Free Press ran a contest where they invited people to design a new Manitoba flag, but because it was the 90s all the entries were terrible.

I think there's a much better chance that something good would emerge today. And it would (quite rightly) be very likely to incorporate a strong Indigenous design flavour too.

Yes, it's insane. Especially in the summer for a good month leading up to the Acadian national holiday (Aug. 15).

Many (most?) towns often have every single flagpole on the main street with a flag on it, in addition to dozens of those banderole streamer thingies that are red white and blue with a gold star that hang over the middle of the road.

Not to mention all of the private homes that also have flags.
