best gelato in the world

Quote:
A Vancouver iced-treat creator has scooped up an international honour — the title of World's Best Gelato.

James Coleridge, owner of Bella Gelateria on West Cordova, won two gold medals at a competition in Italy.

The CBC’s Deborah Goble checked out the non-traditional flavours that Coleridge believes helped him win.

Adding this to the list of places I've got to eat at when I'm back this December.

I went and tried a few flavours a couple of days ago. The winning flavour was great, but my favourite was banana bread with real pieces of banana bread in it.

Went there today with my wife. Fantastic gelato, high prices (to be expected in that area). Definitely worth trying.

Bella is now expanding to Yaletown on Marinaside (former site of Bojangles). They are advertising this place as a pizzeria as well. Hopefully it retains all of the quality of the original location and brings in some great pizza to boot.

Hoarding has been up for a few months and lists Spring 2014 as an opening.

It always amazes me how long it takes for restaurant spaces to open up, even those that were previously restaurant locations.
